At Pliqd, safety is not an afterthought -- it is foundational to everything we build. Our platform is designed exclusively for verified university students, and we take every measure to ensure our community remains secure, respectful, and trustworthy.
These Safety & Community Guidelines outline the tools, policies, and resources we provide to protect our users. By using Pliqd, you agree to abide by these guidelines and help us maintain a safe environment for all members of our university community.
01. Verified Profiles
Every user on Pliqd must register with a valid university email address (.edu). This verification step ensures that every person on our platform is a real, currently enrolled student at an accredited institution.
- University Email Requirement: Only .edu email addresses are accepted during registration, confirming active enrollment status.
- Institutional Verification: We cross-reference email domains against our database of recognized colleges and universities.
- Single Account Policy: Each university email can only be associated with one Pliqd account, preventing duplicate or fraudulent registrations.
- Ongoing Validation: Accounts are subject to periodic re-verification to ensure continued eligibility.
02. Photo Verification
Pliqd offers photo verification to help prevent catfishing and ensure the person behind the profile is who they claim to be. Users who complete photo verification earn a verified badge displayed on their profile.
- Selfie Check: Users are prompted to take a real-time selfie that is compared against their uploaded profile photos.
- Verified Badge: Successfully verified users receive a visible badge, signaling authenticity to other members.
- Anti-Catfishing Measure: Photo verification helps build trust and reduces the risk of identity misrepresentation on the platform.
- Voluntary but Encouraged: While not mandatory, photo verification is strongly encouraged for all users.
03. Reporting & Blocking
Pliqd provides robust in-app tools that allow users to report concerning content or behavior and block any user to prevent further contact. All reports are treated confidentially and reviewed promptly by our moderation team.
How to Report
You can report a user, message, post, or photo directly through the app. Simply tap the menu icon on any profile or content and select "Report." You may also block a user simultaneously when filing a report.
Report Categories
- Harassment or Bullying: Any threatening, abusive, or intimidating behavior directed at another user.
- Spam or Scams: Unsolicited messages, promotional content, or fraudulent activity.
- Inappropriate Content: Content that violates our community standards, including explicit or offensive material.
- Impersonation: Accounts misrepresenting their identity or pretending to be someone else.
- Underage Users: Any user suspected of being under 18 years of age.
- Threats or Violence: Any content or behavior that threatens physical harm or promotes violence.
- Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation (CSAE): Any content or behavior involving the sexual abuse or exploitation of minors. These reports are escalated immediately.
Blocking
You can block any user at any time. Blocking a user prevents them from viewing your profile, sending you messages, or interacting with your content in any way. Blocked users are not notified.
04. Content Moderation
Our dedicated moderation team reviews all user reports and takes appropriate action to maintain the safety and integrity of the Pliqd community. We employ a combination of automated tools and human review to identify and address violations.
Moderation Actions
Depending on the severity of the violation, our team may take one or more of the following actions:
- Warning: A formal notice issued to the user advising them of the violation and expected behavior going forward.
- Content Removal: Offending content is removed from the platform immediately upon confirmation of a violation.
- Temporary Ban: The user's account is suspended for a defined period, during which they cannot access any Pliqd features.
- Permanent Account Termination: For severe or repeated violations, the user's account is permanently banned with no option for reinstatement.
All moderation decisions are made in accordance with our Community Guidelines and applicable law. Users may appeal moderation actions by contacting our support team.
05. Dating Safety Tips
While Pliqd is built for verified students, it is important to take personal precautions when meeting someone new. The following tips will help you stay safe when transitioning from online interactions to in-person meetings on campus.

- Tell a Friend: Let a roommate, friend, or family member know where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you expect to return.
- Trust Your Instincts: If something feels off or uncomfortable, leave the situation immediately. Your safety always comes first.
- Protect Your Financial Information: Never share banking details, credit card numbers, or send money to someone you have met on the platform.
- Keep Personal Details Private: Avoid sharing your home address, daily schedule, or other sensitive personal information until you have established trust.
- Report Suspicious Behavior: If someone makes you feel unsafe or behaves inappropriately, report them immediately through the app.
- Stay Sober and Alert: Be mindful of your surroundings and avoid situations where your judgment may be impaired.
